Singapore racing continues on Saturday for a 12-race turf and dirt fixture at Kranji Racecourse.
Four-year-old gelding Lim’s Puncak Jaya looks primed to land his first career win for trainer Daniel Meagher when he steps out in Race 5, a Maiden over 1600m on turf.
Lim’s Puncak Jaya is at his fourth time of asking this week and off the back of his best effort yet when narrowly beaten into second place by 0.50 lengths after vying to make all in running. Improvement seemed to have been sparked by the addition of blinkers for the first time on that occasion, while rising to 1400m from two runs over 1200m appeared key.
Lim’s Puncak Jaya looks to have come on from that run if his recent two-length trial win is something to go by, and it appears his race to lose this week given the lack of depth when it comes to opposition.
Elsewhere, rejuvenated six-year-old Born To Win is on track to bounce back to his winning ways in Race 8, the Class 4 1600m Handicap.
Born To Win has been a big improver since transferring to trainer Tim Fitzsimmons’ stable this year, yet to miss the frame in four runs. Last seen finishing strongly into third over this distance on the Polytrack, Born To Win should relish the switch back to the turf track this week where he boasts a solid record of two wins from four at the course and distance.
He looked well in a recent trial and can take holding out in just the small field of nine tomorrow.
Meanwhile, trainer Tim Fitzsimmons (29 wins) boasts a seven-win buffer over Donna Logan (22 wins).
Manoel Nunes looks virtually unstoppable in the jockeys’ premiership, with it seemingly only a question of “how far”? Nunes sits atop the ladder with 58 wins, 36 ahead of Oscar Chavez (22) and 38 ahead of CC Wong on 20 wins.
