Selangor racing continues on Saturday featuring a thrilling nine-race card with highly competitive action expected throughout the day.
Eight-year-old galloper Billy Elliot aims to atone for his recent narrow defeat with a return victory in the 1200m Class 4B contest in Kuala Lumpur.
Resuming from a nearly four-month break, Billy Elliot posted a 1.5-length victory against Class 5 opposition in his local debut on July 21. He lost no admirers with a fast- finishing second over the same distance of 1020m on August 24, where he was narrowly beaten by just a short head.
Having scored once in Class 4, with a victory back in January 2022, Billy Elliot appears well placed at the weights to double his local win tally this weekend.
Promising five-year-old galloper Gulf Eagle looks poised to successfully step up to Class 3 company and complete a winning hat trick over 1400m this Saturday.
With three wins from five local starts, Gulf Eagle has rapidly progressed through the grades since breaking his maiden tag in just his second race on 2 June. After finishing third in a heat of the SLTC 4YO Series on 30 June, the Richard Lines-prepared gelding has not looked back, posting consecutive victories since then.
In his last start at the 1400m distance, Gulf Eagle travelled well throughout, securing a decisive 2.50-length win. With the rise in class, he will carry 4kg less and appears hard to beat with a light weight of 52kg. - iRACE Racing Editor
