4Racing is delighted to announce Betway as the headline sponsor of the 2022 Betway Summer Cup, which will be held at Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday 26 November 2022.
Johannesburg’s flagship race will have the theme of ‘The Golden Summer’ and Betway’s sponsorship will see the stakes for the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup increase this year to R2.5 million.
The Betway Summer Cup is one of South Africa’s premier horse races and this year it will be a festive, joyous occasion celebrating Johannesburg’s return to bustling activity and major events after the global Covid pandemic.
The first entries for the Betway Summer Cup closed on 21 September and underlined the event’s status as one of South African horseracing’s blue ribbon events with the likes of Graded race champions such as Sparkling Water, Rain in Holland, Safe Passage, Red Saxon, Aragosta, Bingwa and MK’s Pride among the early entries, along with notable performers such as Hoedspruit and previous winner Zillzaal.

Popular features of the Betway Summer Cup this year will be the Summer Garden hospitality area, the Piazza public area with its delicious food stalls, activities and entertainment and a Half Time Concert with some of South Africa’s top musical talent.
4Racing will soon announce further details of fantastic additional sponsors coming on board to ensure the Betway Summer Cup is a memorable day out for avid punters and for those looking to kick off the festive season with fun, fashion, music and entertainment.
- The Betway Summer Cup will be run on Saturday 26 November at Turffontein Racecourse.
- Second entries close at 11h00 on Tuesday 1 November.
- Final entries close at 09h00 on Friday 18 November, on which date the weights will be published.
- Final declarations are due by 11h00 on Monday 21 November, when the Barrier Draw will take place.
