Jack Milner: Jockey Aldo Domeyer looks hard to oppose in Races 2 and 3 at Kenilworth today.
High Moon has been quite a costly horse to follow of late. The son of Silvano has been the subject of massive betting support in his last three runs, only to have found something better in all three.
Hopefully the Candice Bass-Robinson-trained three-year-old colt will finally break the ice when he lines up in Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1600m.
Aldo Domeyer has been aboard High Moon in all three runs, and it must have been quite frustrating for him to have been relegated to second place each time.
Interestingly, he has run five times, and in all but his penultimate race, High Moon has produced the fastest 400m to finish. Last time was one of those occasions, but in a tight finish he was touched off by Big Thinker in a race over 1700m.
He runs over 1800m this time and perhaps his followers need to give High Moon one more chance to shed the shackles of “maidenhood” so he can go on to bigger things.
Stable companion Whatsinadream, who also filled the runner-up berth under Domeyer last time, also looks a good bet to go one better when she lines up in Race 3, another Maiden Plate over 1800m, but this time for fillies and mares.
This daughter of Judpot was drawn wide and ran on from a long way back over 1600m in her most recent outing and, on that evidence, should be better suited to the extra 200m.
Bass-Robinson could not have found a better field for her charge as the competition is quite ordinary. In fact, her main danger, The Summons, is a well-tried four-year-old whose form is quite exposed. She also seems to prefer further.
