Best bets come early at Fairview

Punters need to arm themselves with cash and get on early on Friday at Fairview as the good things are in the first two races.

Justin Snaith brings disappointing so-far filly Savic to contest Race 1, a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1000m, but she may have to play second fiddle to the local talent in the form of Paris Lass.

The Gavin Smith-trained daughter of Visionaire has bumped two decent fillies in her two starts and chased them both home.

She was second best behind the heavily backed stable companion Hildelita but was only beaten 1.50 lengths. She then met the very good filly Lunar Halo and finished runner-up, although 5.25 lengths adrift after hanging over the final 400m.

That rival has since thrashed Hildelita when picking up a juvenile feature.

Ryan Munger is carded to ride Savic while S’manga Khumalo is aboard Paris Lass.

Trainer Sharon Kotzen has not had many two-year-old winners on debut but War Launch did her proud back in January. She then sent the colt to Hollywoodbets Kenilworth to contest the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup and was not disgraced when finishing fourth.

Back on his home track tomorrow he will be hard to beat in Race 2.

The feature race on the card comes up in Race 7, The East Cape Oaks (Listed) over 2000m, and Snaith should take home the lion’s share of the stake.

He sends out Silverlinks, whose task has now been made easier by the scratching of Love Is A Rose.

Muzi Yeni makes his way to Port Elizabeth to ride Silverlinks, a filly he has ridden previously. He will have learnt from his one ride aboard her back in December 2022 when finishing third and will be keen to get back in the winner’s enclosure.
