Trying to find a best bet on the card at Fairview on Tuesday when they race on the Polytrack is not easy, but there was a lot to like about the debut run of Belle Of Belize on the turf at Fairview last month.
Previously trained by Paul Peter, the five-year-old mare moved to Alan Greeff when last season’s champion trainer opted to hand in his licence.
Belle Of Belize made her debut in a MR 90 Handicap for fillies and mares against some very decent run and almost pulled off a massive upset as she ran hot favourite And We Danced to a 0.10-length second, only touched off a stride short of the line.
She takes a drop in class when she lines up in Race 6, a MR 80 Handicap over 1400m, but this time on the Polytrack.
The change in surface will hold no fears for the daughter of Ideal World as she won her maiden on the Polytrack at Greyville.
She does carry 62kg but with in-form Richard Fourie in the irons and No 2 draw on her, Belle Of Belize looks the right runner to bank in all the exotics.
