Beechamwood Boy can claim win No 8

After the track has received its annual spring treatment, racing at Hollywoodbets Scottsville will resume on Saturday.

Down the straight there can be strong track bias either to the inside when the going is fast or towards the outside when the going comes up soft. Beechamwood Boy, who is very good at Scottsville, has drawn toward the inside and could notch up win No 8 in Race 7 on Saturday, a MR 98 Handicap over 1000m.

His last run may appear a tame effort, but Beechamwood Boy, who has struck four of his seven wins at Scottsville, ran in what could have been a Graded race, considering the stars who took part. He was beaten only 1.70 lengths by Peter Muscutt-trained Quasiforsure at the line. He was also racing after a rest and was entitled to have needed the run.

The five-year-old gelding is dropping for the first time to 1000m but should enjoy a fast-run race. He boasts a strong finish and specialists from good draws such as Faustino and Renaissance Man may not be ready to fight him off this time. The former has lost form of late while the latter is returning from a 171-day rest and may just need it.
