There are four feature races on Saturday’s card at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and they are two Listed races and a pair of Grade 3 contests.
The World Sports Betting Irridescence Stakes for two-year-old fillies and WSB Langerman Futurity Trophy, open to all juveniles, run alongside two fillies-and-mares features, in the 1950m Final Fling Stakes and 1200m Olympic Duel Stakes,
Three of them look highly competitive but runners from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable are expected to dominate the Listed Irridescence Stakes over 1500m with two well-bred and impressive last-start winners, Beach Bomb and October Morn.
Both look useful but October Morn stands out as one of the best bets on the card. She was a runaway winner of the Perfect Promise Sprint last time and looks to be crying out for this sort of distance.
Stable jockey Aldo Domeyer partnered both fillies to victory last time out and has opted to stick with October Morn so it could pay to trust his judgment and side with the Trippi youngster.
Justin Snaith - and his supporters - can look forward to a feature-race double on the day with versatile Kwinta's Light likely to go well in the Listed Olympic Duel Stakes (Race 5) and exciting Trippi colt Hluhluwe expected to do likewise in the Grade 3 Langerman (Race 7) having won two of his last three starts.
The Final Fling Stakes looks particularly tricky, and it could pay to go with some value in this race. Bernard Fayd’Herbe is back in action, and he could provide some good value with Young Love, who he rides for the Andre Nel yard.
This Twice Over filly lost her form during the summer months but she seems to relish the soft winter going and showed a bit of her old self last time when a two-length third behind Future Girl in the Listed Stormsvlei Stakes over 1800m last time.
She is 2.5kg better off and should be able to reverse the placings.
Actually, Fayd’Herbe could be the man to follow as she has two very good rides earlier on the card. He rides Questioning in Race 2 for trainer Vaughan Marshall and that does look the standout bet on the card. Craig Zackey steered this well-bred Querari gelding, who was well-supported from 7-1 into odds of 3-1, to a fast-finishing second on debut in open company over the course and distance, and a subsequent nine-week break would have done Marshall's inmate the world of good. Against rivals of his own age with natural improvement expected, Questioning ought to open his account at the second attempt and complete a quick double for the yard.
Fayd'Herbe and Marshall team up again in Race 3 and will be confident of winning the race with Coastal Commander who has finished second in both starts over 1200m. Like his stablemate Questioning in the preceding event, Coastal Commander ought to have strengthened and improved in the nine weeks since his last outing and the step up to 1400m is also likely to eke out further progress.
