Punters are always looking for that one good bet on any racecard and when it comes to the race meeting at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday need look no further than Psyche.
Trained by Peter Muscutt the three-year-old daughter of Gimmethegreenlight lines up in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1600m and should prove hard to beat, even though she is taking on the colts.
Psyche has only raced twice, both over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville, and finished third on both occasions. Based on her breeding she is looking for further and should be ideally suited to the move to the Maritzburg track.
She is a full sister to 2022 Politician Stakes winner Universal and a half-sister to 2020 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and Green Point Stakes champion Vardy so she is bred for this trip and maybe even further.
Being a filly, she gets a 3kg sex allowance in this race and comes in with just 57kg.
She is perfectly drawn in gate No 2 and Tristan Godden will take the ride once again
Another decent prospect comes up in Race 2 where Glen Kotzen sends out Omkhulu Boss in a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m where the majority are first-timers.
Omkhulu Boss, who wasn’t far off subsequent stakes placed St Harry, looks the horse to beat in the second race of the day.
The only negative could be his wide draw but these days at Scottsville the draw is not all that disastrous in races up the straight and he does appear to have enough speed to overcome the barrier.
The bay colt needed his first start when starting slowly but made good improvement next time showing good pace throughout before going down 0.80-lengths. The form is looking good with exciting Australian import St Harry finishing second best in the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes on Met Day.
