Anotherdanceforme to beat the boys in Guineas

The Listed Bryanston Auctioneers East Cape Guineas over 1600m at Fairview on Friday forms the second leg of the Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Sophomore Challenge, but unfortunately the R250,000 bonus for winning all three legs will not be claimed this year.

Talented Buffalo Bill, a convincing winner of the Listed Ibhayi Stakes over 1400m, has suffered a setback and will not be lining up in the Guineas.

However, although only six runners are carded to race, it is a quality field. Trainer Alan Greeff originally had 10 runners enters but has clipped that back to just four. However, most importantly classy filly Anotherdanceforme is one of those remaining four and she looks very hard to beat.

Anotherdanceforme has only tasted defeat once in her seven starts and that was when she made the trip to Kenilworth and did not show her best at that track.

Of her six successes, five of them were impressive and it was only her second start, when just getting home by a head, that she had a hard race. That was over 1000m back in February 2025.

The Master Of My Fate filly has impressed the further she has gone and her effortless 4.25-length defeat of Augusta Rosso over this course and distance last month when returning from a break, showed that she is back in form.

Sure, it was not a particularly strong field but the manner on which she quickened and put the race to bed was sensational.

She will be teaming up once again with jockey Richard Fourie and with her 2kg sex allowance looks very hard to oppose.

The one concern might be that this is her second race after a lengthy layoff but she looked outstanding and that run could only have brought her on.

The two “non-Greeff” runners Justin Snaith-trained gelding In A Timely Manner and Juan Nel’s Action America.

Of the pair, only In A Timely Manner looks to have a realistic chance of upsetting Anotherdancefor me.

This Legislate gelding has won two of his seven starts and his latest win showed he had turned the corner and he may prove second best.
