All Out For Six, winner of one of the biggest prizes in South African horseracing, is being dropped in distance as he takes on talented sprinters in Race 8, the Grade 3 Champagne Stakes over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Monday.
All Out For Six won the richest 1400m race in the land when capturing the R5-million HSH Princess Charlene Big Cap at Kenilworth and with a merit rating of 117 he is currently one of the best around.
But the race was not without controversy. While the bay colt won impressively, he did cause interference to superstar colt One Stripe, another son of incredible freshman stallion One World and rated (MR 132) as the No 1 three-year-old in the land.
Vaughan Marshall trained One World and is also in charge of both One Stripe and All Out For Six. He would have been pleased to see the race already franked by Candice Bass-Robinson’s promising Pomodoro gelding La Pulga who won easily last week.
Marshall’s charge not only comes into the race after a dominant win but finds himself weighted to win the 1200m sprint with just 54.5kg.
With Richard Fourie in the irons, he should be tough to beat.
The racemeeting starts off with a cracking Juvenile Plate in Race 1 where another exciting individual, North Point, should reward followers. The grey William Longsword gelding belied decent odds when romping home in his third start to win as he liked. The Brett and James Crawford-trained juvenile is getting better with each run and looks headed for bigger paydays and hence worth following until beaten.
