Alan Greeff’s steady stream of winners this year has become more of a trickle of late, but that is unlikely to stop World Radar in Race 7 at Fairview on Friday, the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes over 1200m.
The Soft Falling Rain filly continues her winning ways with four wins in her last five starts and a lifetime record of seven wins from 10 outings.
Greeff surprised a few people when pulling the four-year-old out of a race earlier this year when the meeting was moved from the turf to the Polytrack, stating his reason was the change of surface.
World Radar had an impressive record of two wins from two runs on that surface.
Clearly then the turf is her preferred surface, and she stands at four wins from six runs over this course and distance.
World Radar, a winner of a Grade 3 race in the Western Cape, drops to Listed company and although she has been made to work hard in her recent victories, she has beaten better than who she takes on in this race.
Current rider Greg Cheyne has been aboard her for six of the wins and knows how to get the best from her.
Greeff does have nice back-up in the form of much-improved Carioca ready to sweep through if World Radar has one of her off days.
Carioca was an impressive winner of her latest start which was over the course and distance.
Rival trainer Gavin Smith has been regularly in the winners’ box of late and he has two ready to shine. Joyful Noise showed 1200m, although not her best distance, is still not a problem for her with a decent run when fourth last time.
Stable companion La Bella Mia is unreliable but talented, and at her best is capable of a strong, and often winning, late charge.
