Jack Milner: An interesting Novice Plate for fillies and mares concludes the Jackpot at Durbanville on Saturday and a lot will depend on the fitness of Felicity Flyer.
This three-year-old daughter of Noordhoek Flyer was sent off to KwaZulu-Natal in August to run in one race, the Bloodstock SA Million Sprint over 1200m at Scottsville. She took on a potent field in this Non-Black Type race and finished fourth. The event was won by unbeaten Hack Green with Green Pepper in second and Seattle Singer in third.
Green Pepper went on to beat Rivarine in the Sophomore 1000 (Non-Black Type) at the Vaal on 1 October while Seattle Singer ran second to Always In Charge in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion at Scottsville.
Felicity Flyer has yet to run at Durbanville but she is well drawn at No 4 for Race 7 over 1200m. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride.
If she needs a run, then this race is wide open. Silver Captain has the benefit of a 4kg claimer up and Joey Ramsden’s charge has the added advantage of having performed well at the course when a 1.90-length third behind Red Light Girl last time.
Gimme Six has also performed well at the course and is the joint best handicapped runner along with Felicity Flyer. However, Richard Fourie will not be riding at the meeting and Craig du Plooy, who has won aboard Justin Snaith’s charge, now takes over.
