A joint programme between 4Racing and the Race Owners Association regarding Grooms’ benefits has come to the aid of the family of Randjesfontein groom, Sanele Masonwabo Msamza, paying out R20,000 towards the funeral costs of the groom who sadly passed away on the 29 April after a short illness.
Sanele was a groom at Randjesfontein Training Centre and worked for trainer Stuart Pettigrew for the past 12 years .He came from a long line of grooms, with his father and uncle also having worked as grooms for many years.
The lump sum to support the Msamza family with funeral arrangements was paid out as part of the Momentum Health4Me medical and funeral insurance benefit programme introduced by 4Racing and the ROA in March 2023 as part of their Grooms Transformation Initiative. This partnership strives to play a significant and provide meaningful change in people’s lives.
“I would like to thank 4Racing very much for their kind support to my groom, Sanele. His mother really appreciates the sum of R20,000 given to help with the funeral costs and from Pettigrew Racing and all our staff we would really like to thank you,” Pettigrew said in a note of appreciation to 4Racing.
Msamza was a popular groom who was also an avid footballer, he was part of the Randjesfontein grooms’ team that won the inaugural 4Racing Grooms’ Soccer Tournament last year.
